Hoian

A seminar on the preservation of world heritage sites was held in the ancient town of Hoi An, central province of Quang Nam, on August 7 with the participation of Japanese researchers and Hoi An's representatives. 

 Many reports on experiences and results in the preservation and restoration work of Vietnamese and foreign organisations, especially those from Japan, were presented at the seminar, which was part of the fourth annual Vietnam-Japan Cultural Exchange Festival.

In recent years, Hoi An has made achievements in preserving, restoring and promoting its cultural values.

The town has implemented many scientific research projects and issued regulations on the management of historical sites, and strengthened the international cooperation in the sustainable development of historic sites.

Hoi An has also invested billions of VND in restoring historic sites and upgrading infrastructure such as water supply, drainage systems and underground power lines.

The ancient town received three Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in the Asia-Pacific region.
